A Healthy Dose of Optimism on a Kyle Tucker Extension?
While the 2025 Cubs often grab our attention in a whole host of ways — PCA’s breakout, Matt Shaw’s development, Jed Hoyer’s final season under contract, the unexpectedly hot start (relative to the competition) — I don’t think there’s a bigger storyline out there than the ONE year of team control the Cubs have over their superstar right fielder, Kyle Tucker.
Bottom line? If Tom Ricketts can’t find a way to keep that man in Chicago, there’s going to be a revolt among Cubs fans, regardless of how far the team makes it this October. That’s just the reality facing the owner of the team. And justifiably so.
Unfortunately, when it comes to a Kyle Tucker extension with the Cubs, we haven’t heard a single dose of optimism, let alone any sort of expectation that they’ll be willing and able to get it done. Until today.
