Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn spent years trying to solve each other on the practice fields in Allen Park, Michigan. Johnson’s offense against Glenn’s defense, day after day, week after week. Each one knows the other’s habits, tendencies, and pet calls about as well as anyone in football.
On Sunday, they finally get to do it with something on the line. This is the first time the two former Lions coordinators will share a field as head coaches, and Johnson is treating it like poker.
Caleb Williams is still out with a hamstring injury, and the Bears haven’t said whether Case Keenum or Tyson Bagent will start in his place. Ask Johnson, and you’ll get the same non-answer everyone else got this week.
“Whoever we feel like gives us the best chance to win.”
When the guy across the field knows your playbook almost as well as you do, why give him anything for free?
