Bears Roster Cuts
Ian Wheeler is the odd man out in the Chicago Bears' running backs room.
The Bears announced they have put eight players on waivers, released three others, and placed another on the non-football in this latest round of transactions ahead of the 3 p.m. CT Tuesday deadline to trim rosters to 53 players. And the most notable name of the bunch might be Ian Wheeler.
The second-year running back was a fan favorite as a rookie in 2024, thanks partly to what was shown on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” last summer. And when his first season as a pro ended before it could truly get started because of a season-ending injury in the preseason, it endeared the Howard University product more to this fan base. But even after scoring two touchdowns in Chicago’s Preseason Week 2 win against the Buffalo Bills, Wheeler still finds himself on the waiver wire.
