Before today’s practice at Halas Hall, head coach Ben Johnson spoke to the media and opened the session with the big question on everyone’s mind: who’s playing (or not playing) at Soldier Field on Sunday? Among those who will not play will be starting quarterback Caleb Williams.

Johnson said the coaching staff decided that most of the starters would not play on Saturday and confirmed that Williams was among them.

“Do I need to see Caleb Williams in the preseason? No, I do not. I see him every single day in practice,” Johnson said.

He did not rule out the possibility of Williams playing in Weeks 2 or 3, but he won’t see any action this weekend.
