Before his gorgeous 35-yard punt that pinned the Los Angeles Rams at their 8-yard line with 1:03 to play on Sunday, Taylor was averaging 60.5 yards per punt, which would have been a Bears record that has stood since at least 1960.

How’s that for irony? His most crucial punt of the game cost him a franchise record. That 60.5-yard average before that punt included a behemoth 66-yard punt earlier in the fourth quarter that drew the attention of the NFL’s official social media account on X.
