Ben Johnson Sets the Tone
The rookie head coach pulled his first-team offense off the field after pre-snap snafus on Wednesday.
With report day and all of the smiling back-to-school-esque photo ops and social fodder out of the way, the real work began today at Halas Hall when the Bears took the field for practice.
If anyone wasn’t sure whether Ben Johnson was ready to command an entire team as a first-year head coach, he made it clear on Wednesday that he won’t settle for anything less than what he considers the standards for his team.
According to multiple reports out of Halas Hall—including one from Mark Grote—Ben Johnson fumingly pulled his first-team offense off the field after the unit failed to line up properly during 11-on-11s.
“About an hour into the practice, the first unit, during 11-on-11s, lining up, botched something. And then they botched it again,” Grote reported during his hit on the Rahimi & Harris Show on 670 The Score.
