The Chicago Bears were back in action at Halas Hall this morning, this time with pads on. It may not seem like a big deal, but the pads signify the next step in the players' preparation for the upcoming season, and the players respond accordingly.

For example, when things got a bit chippy during one of the 11-on-11 periods when tight end Gerald Everett took exception to a hit delivered to Khalil Herbert by DeMarcus Walker. Everett engaged with Walker and Montez Sweat in a minor pushing match before Caleb Williams intervened and calmed the two sides down.

You can read all about Williams’ leadership and his brilliance as a passer on display at the end of Friday’s practice in my training camp notes.
