Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams cleared the air in his eagerly awaited trip to the podium at Halas Hall since an excerpt from Seth Wikersham’s new book ‘American Kings: A Biography of the Quarterback’ rekindled questions about whether or not the quarterback wanted to be drafted by Chicago’s football team.

“Chicago is the place quarterbacks go to die,” Carl Williams, Caleb’s father, told Seth Wickersham, author of “American Kings: A Biography of the Quarterback,” in the months before the 2024 draft. According to an ESPN report, Williams wondered aloud: “Do I want to go there? I don’t think I can do it with [former Bears offensive coordinator Shane] Waldron.”

Williams was asked today about that claim, and the young signal caller responded excellently.
