Cody Bellinger Hits the IL with a Fractured Finger

Which is a problem if the Cubs were planning on trading him ahead of the deadline.

When the Cubs were stringing together some good baseball, they were dealt another blow today. According to multiple reports, Cody Bellinger suffered a fracture in his left middle finger when he was hit on the hand by a pitch, prompting him to leave the game and undoubtedly resulting in an IL stint.

Bellinger is expected to be shut down through the MLB All-Star break next week and scheduled to begin range-of-motion testing the following week. This is an issue for the Cubs lineup, but it’s also an issue if Bellinger isn’t healthy when the trade deadline rolls around in a few weeks.
