Bellinger is Back, Blackhawks Extend Reichel, More

Cody Bellinger will make his return to the Cubs lineup tonight!

Another night, another star making his return to the Chicago Cubs lineup. Last night, it was Justin Steele; tonight, it will be Cody Bellinger.

Bellinger missed two weeks with multiple fractured ribs, which is pretty incredible that we’re even having this conversation today. Having Bellinger’s left-handed thump back in the lineup is a welcomed addition for Craig Counsell and the Cubs.

There were also some other roster moves made today.

  • Outfielder Alexander Canario was optioned to Triple-A.

  • Daniel Palencia hits the 15-day IL with right shoulder stiffness.

  • Keegan Thompson was recalled to replace Palencia.

In other Cubs good news, Seiya Suzuki will begin a rehab assignment with Iowa tomorrow, and Drew Smyly and Jordan Wicks will throw bullpens tonight.

The Cubs are already tied atop the NL Central (entering play today), and now they’re getting healthy across the board. Watch out, friends. Things could get very fun very soon.
