Another Night, Another Bullpen Meltdown for the Cubs
Another night, another Cubs loss. This time by way of their 17th blown save of the season in San Francisco. So, if you stayed up to watch, sorry.

How bad are things? Well, just ask Michael …
“I’m not saying there haven’t been good moves throughout Jed Hoyer’s tenure. Michael Busch looks like a legitimate building block. Shota Imanaga has obviously had a great season. And the farm system has been significantly turned around (… though that BETTER be the case when you trade away so many players in so few years). But at the end of the day, this – right now – is a tremendous disappointment. It is. You can’t avoid that because you don’t want it to be true.
The offense is missing a star; the top prospects haven’t impacted games at the highest level for any prolonged period of time. And last night, the bullpen blew their NL-leading 17th game of the season, using a guy that was DFA’d in May (Tyson Miller), another who signed a minor league deal over the winter (Colten Brewer), and a 35-year-old Drew Smyly.”
