Cubs First Half Superlatives
The biggest, best, worst, and most surprising performances of the first half.
The first half of the 2025 season is officially in the books, and there’s no way around it … the Cubs absolutely CRUSHED.
In just about every conceivable way, the 2025 Chicago Cubs have either met or exceeded our expectations. Sure, the Brewers got too close for comfort with a scorching hot streak to close out the first half, but the Cubs (57-39) finished strong, as well, taking two of three from the Yankees in New York. And here, on the Monday of All-Star week, the Cubs are in first place of the NL Central, just a half-game behind the Dodgers for the best record in the National League.
Every single one of us would have taken this outcome on Opening Day, so the team deserves their flowers.
And since we have a natural break in the schedule, I thought we’d do some superlatives, high school yearbook style.
