Dylan Cease Dominates the Cubs ... Again
The Cubs dropped another series to the Padres thanks to another masterclass in pitching by Dylan Cease.
Dylan Cease put in a dominant performance on the mound, pitching seven innings and allowing only one hit with 12 strikeouts as the San Diego Padres defeated the Chicago Cubs 3-0.
This marked Cease's fifth outing in his last six, where he conceded one or fewer earned runs. The Padres won the series 2-1 against the Cubs, with Cease leading the way.
Chicago's only hit came in the third inning, but they were unable to capitalize on their only scoring opportunity. San Diego took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, and they added two more runs in the fifth inning courtesy of RBI hits from Fernando Tatis Jr. and Jake Cronenworth.
Cubs starter Hayden Wesneski took the loss after pitching six innings and giving up three runs.
