The Cubs Drop the Series Opener Against the Reds

We're watching the same movie unfold every day with the Cubs right now.

What a brutal ending to today’s Cubs game. With one out and runners on first and third base, Seiya Suzuki deposited a ball deep in the left-field corner that easily scored Pete Crow-Armstrong from third base.

It could have been 5-4 Reds with runners at second and third base and one out in the bottom of the ninth, but an ill-advised send resulted in Nick Madrigal being thrown out at home plate (by a wide margin) for the second out of the inning with the Reds still up 5-4.

A Cody Bellinger flyout to deep right field the next at-bat (which would have tied the game had Madrigal been held at third) ended the game in defeat for the Cubs.
