The Chicago Cubs’ listed starters for this weekend, officially, are all “TBD.”

But we know that Edward Cabrera should be activated from the Injured List to take a start, and we also know that there’s a chance, per Carter Hawkins, that Matthew Boyd might return this weekend, too. A second rehab start is expected, but Hawkins didn’t rule out an early return on The Score yesterday.

Whenever it is that Boyd returns, together with Cabrera, the Cubs will suddenly have six starting pitchers available: Boyd, Cabrera, Shota Imanaga, Colin Rea, Jameson Taillon, and the guy who began this stint as a fill-in for the various injuries, Ben Brown.

Will the Cubs roll with six starting pitchers for a while? Will someone get bumped to the bullpen? Last in, first out?
