Cubs' Plans for the Open Rotation Spot
And yes, Cade Horton is “an option”
If you missed the injury update on Shōta Imanaga after last night’s game, the news was really as good as we could’ve realistically hoped. Hoping that he misses no more than a month is very reasonable approach for your heart.
Cubs President Jed Hoyer spoke on how and why you’re cautious when going through this process (Cubs.com): “The most important thing with that kind of injury is to get him back and healthy for the remainder of the season, not just to get him back. You talk about returning to play, versus returning to your previous form. That’s the most important thing, and it may take some time to get there.”
Again, that’s why I look at more like a month, rather than just a couple weeks – even if it takes only a couple weeks for him to be throwing again, you want to make sure Shōta Imanaga is able to REALLY be himself out there.
