There's a Very Good Glove Making it's Way to Chicago this Week!

The Cubs will have a new face when they open their series against the Braves tomorrow.

It’s a Cubs off day today before they open a three-game series with the Atlanta Braves at Wrigley Field on Tuesday. But that doesn’t mean there wasn’t any activity. According to a report by Jorge Castillo on Sunday afternoon, the Cubs are calling up infielder Luis Vazquez.

The timing of Vazquez’s call-up is a little odd, considering he’s hitting 143/.273/.232/39 wRC+ at Iowa over the last three weeks. However, he’s hitting .270/.369/.409/106 wRC+ on the season.

Brett has more on Vazquez and why he’s making his way to Chicago this week:

  • The fact that this happened 18(!) years ago is insane and not the kind of math I was hoping to see today. Also, don’t forget the part where Scott Podsednik dropped tough guy Michael Barrett immediately following his cheap shot to Pierzynski.
