Do the Chicago White Sox Now Have a Path in Place for an Ownership Transition?

Billionaire Justin Ishbia's decision to dump his pursuit of the Minnesota Twins to increase his ownership stake in the White Sox is something to keep a close eye on.

It’s very possible that the Chicago White Sox now have an ownership transition plan in place. They say they don’t, but they might. And if they do have a plan in place to transition away from Reinsdorf Family ownership, that would have major implications for not only the White Sox but also some implications for the Chicago Cubs and for Major League Baseball as a whole. (And also conceivably the Reinsdorf-owned Chicago Bulls, but I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up.)

If you missed the news that kicked this all off, it came over the weekend when The Athletic’s Jon Greenberg reported that billionaire Justin Ishbia was giving up his pursuit of the currently-for-sale Minnesota Twins in favor of adding to his minority stake in the Chicago White Sox.
