EBS: Pirates 2, Cubs 1

Kinda blew that opportunity.

It was a good day to pitch at Wrigley Field, and Cade Horton was matching up well with Paul Skenes. It’s obscured a bit by the rest of the game, but that was an outstanding start from Horton. He was right there with Skenes (albeit against a lesser lineup and pitching at home).

The Pirates went small ball in the 8th to score their only run in regulation, with Brad Keller allowing a leadoff double, a sac bunt, and then a bouncer off the plate that he couldn’t quite get home quickly enough. The Cubs’ only run in regulation came in the bottom of the frame courtesy of a really poor throwing decision by the Pirates.
