Cubdom seemed like a pretty dark place Tuesday afternoon.
And for good reason.
The Cubs had not lived up to the lofty expectations bestowed upon them after a big offseason. They were 4-6 and already looking way up at the pesky Milwaukee Brewers, who had sprinted out to an 8-2 start.
Only once since World War II has a Cubs team made the playoffs after winning just four of its first 10 games (2007).
