Hard Not to Be Excited About These Blackhawks

If nothing else, there’s direction. There’s light at the end of the tunnel.

Tuesday night’s Blackhawks victory over the Ottawa Senators was full of moments.

Connor Bedard recorded his first NHL hat trick when he put a shot past Sens goalie Linus Ullmark. He also scored his 50th career goal when he did it all himself, taking the puck up the ice and beating Ullmark and every Ottawa defender on the ice for his second goal of the night.

Literally, every Ottawa defender …

Nick Foligno also had a moment Tuesday night, recording his 600th NHL point on a secondary assist of Colton Dach‘s goal. Foligno’s father, Mike Foligno, finished his NHL career with 727 points. With his assist last night, Nick and Mike became only the seventh father-son duo to each record 600 or more points.

Pretty cool.

Amidst a seven-goal barrage by the Blackhawks, I had a moment myself.

I’m thoroughly enjoying Blackhawks hockey again.

The broadcast last night mentioned Chicago’s road trip lid-lifter tonight in Winnipeg. This will be the first time Jonathan Toews will play against the team he captained to three Stanley Cup Championships — right at the moment I’m realizing just how much I have enjoyed the first 10 games of this Blackhawks season.
