Kyle Hendricks Dominates, Cubs Hang on Late (Crazy, I Know!)

Never a dull moment with this team!

Kyle Hendricks made his return to the Cubs rotation today in the finale against the San Francisco Giants, and he looked better than he has all season. Hendricks was racking up whiffs all day and took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before ultimately exiting with a final line of: 5.2 IP, 2H, 1ER, 1BB, 8K.

And hey, the Cubs won. I mean, they almost blew it late again. But they didn’t. Despite having a five-run lead with two outs in the eighth inning, the Cubs allowed the Giants to score runs and place the tying and go-ahead runs into scoring position before Colten Brewer secured the save and the series victory.

Never a dull moment with this team! Michael has more on today’s victory in his Enhanced Box Score.
