We know what the Cubs did not do at the deadline, but what's the explanation?
Because of the timing of the Blogathon ending, and then the weekend of trying to recover physically, there are some things I haven’t yet had a chance to share here. You may have already seen some of these quotes from Cubs President Jed Hoyer, but in case you hadn’t, they are important enough that I wanted to put them up.
As we know, the Cubs did not achieve their most obvious goal for Thursday’s Trade Deadline: add an impactful, sure-fire starting pitcher. I wrote up my thoughts on that failing here, and they stand.
But I do want to at least allow for Hoyer to offer an explanation for why things shook out the way they did.
