Josh Giddey's Wild Buzzer Beater, Cubs Win, More
The Chicago Bulls’ unreal month of March continued on Thursday night at the United Center.
Winners of 11 of their last 16 games, the Bulls pulled off one of the most stunning victories anyone has seen in the NBA this season. Down as much as 18 points in the second half, they clawed all the way back to make it a two-possession game with 12.1 seconds to go. What transpired next might as well be a fever dream.
Coming out of a timeout, Patrick Williams found himself wide-open in the corner and knocked down a three to make it 115-113. LeBron James proceeded to line up for the inbound. As Austin Reaves cut toward the corner, he loosely tossed the ball toward the guard only to have Josh Giddey snatch it. Already with a triple-double, Giddey dribbled toward the paint and quickly turned to dish his 11th assist of the night to Coby White, who was stationed behind the arc. He hit it.
The Bulls suddenly scored 6 points in 6.0 seconds and had a 116-115 lead with 6.0 seconds left to go. JJ Redick immediately called a timeout to advance the ball and give the Lakers a chance to win … or so he thought. Luka Doncic found Austin Reaves from the sideline, who blew by Patrick Williams and laid it in for the go-ahead score. Now, only 3.1 seconds remained on the clock, and the Bulls had ZERO timeouts.
