Kyle Hendricks is OUT of the Chicago Cubs rotation!
It's been a tough year for the veteran right-hander.
Well, there it is; Kyle Hendricks is out of the Chicago Cubs’ starting rotation. Skipper Craig Counsell told reporters on Tuesday that Hendricks has been removed from the rotation and will be pitching out of the bullpen for the Cubs moving forward.
In 2023, the experienced right-handed pitcher had a revival, posting a 3.74 ERA in 24 games. However, this season has been a struggle, as he has recorded a 10.57 ERA over 30.2 innings. If Hendricks can improve his performance in relief, he might be considered for a return to the starting rotation. Throughout his 11-year MLB career, he has only made one relief appearance outside of the playoffs.
