Jeffery Simmons has been a Bear for about 30 hours, and he already knows exactly why he’s here.
Simmons met with reporters at Halas Hall for the first time on Friday, and the new Bears defensive tackle didn’t waste any time getting to the point. When asked what the trade told him, he went straight to the price Chicago paid.
“The trade told me everything I needed to know, especially the value, giving away two first-round picks. I can look at that like, ‘man, I just got traded,’ but I can also look at the bright side of things; this team believes in what they have here, and they want it right now. My game, my passion, my energy, my leadership, I can only help this team even more.
“A great locker room all the way from the quarterback down, so my job is to not come in here and be nothing more than myself. I’m excited to be able to help this team compete for a championship. That’s every team in the NFL’s goal and I think right now with the way this team has been competing, watching these guys from afar, it’s a great team, a great locker room, and I’m excited to do my part to help this team get to its goal.”
