Nico Hoerner to Seattle? Cubs a Player for Garrett Crochet?

It was a busy day at the Cubs rumor mill.

The Cubs’ willingness to trade Nico Hoerner (and desire to add impact starting pitching) and the Mariners’ desire to acquire big-league infield help (and willingness to deal from their crop of impact starting pitchers) should be news to no one. In fact, these two teams were connected as possible matches within those parameters less than a month ago. But today, we have a fresh, concrete report connecting the Cubs and Mariners with some additional specifics to dissect.

According to Adam Jude of the Seattle Times, “The Mariners have also had preliminary talks with the Chicago Cubs about second baseman Nico Hoerner, a Gold Glove winner who offers positional versatility. The Cubs are seeking proven major league talent in talks for Hoerner, a source said.”
