Ryan Poles on Trade Deadline
The Bears are focused on the future and building through the draft.
The dust has settled on the 2025 NFL trade deadline, and the Chicago Bears made one move, trading for defensive end Joe Tyron-Shoyinka—a move that sent a sixth-round pick to the Cleveland Browns, with Tyron-Shoyinka and a seventh-round selection coming to Chicago.
You might not know much about the Bears’ newest pass rusher, but Ryan Poles told the local media today that he and the coaching staff liked Tyron-Shoyinka’s tape in Tampa Bay, where he spent the first four years of his career after being selected by the Buccaneers at the end of the first round in 2021.
One of the games on that tape was against the Chicago Bears, when he notched two sacks and four tackles in Week 2 of the 2023 season.
“He didn’t get a lot of time in Cleveland, but the tape that you saw, there was a lot of traits to help us both in the run game and the pass game,” Poles said (h/t Jason Lieser). “Loved the effort and the motor, the range that he has… reliable, dependable.”
