Shōta Imanaga Continues to Impress in Cubs Victory Over the Mets
Imanaga led the Cubs to a 1-0 victory over the Mets on Wednesday evening.
Lefty pitcher Shōta Imanaga of the Cubs maintained his impressive performance by leading his team to a 1-0 victory over the Mets at Citi Field. Despite pitching on five days' rest for the first time in his career, Imanaga delivered a commanding performance.
He pitched seven scoreless innings, allowed just three hits, and struck out seven batters.
A controversial double play at the end of the game secured Imanaga's place as one of the most promising pitchers in recent history.
The game's only run was scored in the fifth inning by Matt Mervis, who was brought home by a sacrifice fly from Pete Crow-Armstrong. Cubs' Mark Leiter Jr. and Héctor Neris closed out the game, with Neris earning the save.
Michael has more on the victory in last night’s Enhanced Box Score.
